During Advent, we step back from our normal walk through a book or theme to do a deep dive into one passage, four times, looking at it through the lense of the whole-Bible storyline: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Recreation. This year we’re focusing on Philippians 2:1-11, that great hymn to Jesus to see how the essential oneness of God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — means we were created for oneness, a unity that was broken at the fall, made possibly by the cross, and will one day be made new in eternity.

Sermon Notes
Christmas Eve is here! We’re recapping our Advent series (Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Recreation).
Sermon Notes
We wrap up our deep dive in the Apostle Paul’s call to church unity in Philippians 2:1-11 by focusing on the last three verses. Here we see Paul setting our unity in its future context: one day every knee will bow before Jesus and every tongue will confess that He is Lord!
Can we embody that kind of unity now, in this fallen world? Can we be unified in the midst of our division and diversity? Yes, by God’s grace, which we’ll explore in “Eternally Reunited” from Philippians 2:9-11.
Sermon Notes
During Advent, we focus on one passage through the lens of the Bible storyline: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Recreation. We’re spending time in Philippians 2:1-11 to see how God’s triune nature as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit means we were created for oneness, a unity that was broken at the fall, made possibly by the cross, and will one day be made new in eternity.
We look to the cross to see how Jesus’ reconciling work is the only foundation for lasting unity. Join us for “Redeemed in Unity” as we focus in on Philippians 2:5-8.
Sermon Notes
We look inside ourselves, at the self-centeredness and selfishness that poison our attempts at unity. Join us for “Fallen into Disunity” as we focus in on Philippians 2:3-4.
