Joey joined the staff of Faith Church, Indianapolis, in July 2010 as the Pastor of Faith Student Ministry. He and his wife, Jenna, moved from Dallas, TX, where Joey completed his Th.M at Dallas Theological Seminary. After seven years of fruitful ministry, Joey transitioned into a Co-Lead role at Faith. Joey enjoys puns, dad jokes, and starting new hobbies. He runs a couple of times a week to ward off the specter of becoming substantial. He is both book-smart and accident-prone, which, according to Jenna, is a winning combination. She married him because she sees “potential.” He likes reading theology and philosophy books written by dead people and is often found thinking about how the church can flourish in a secular age. He loves eating Tex-Mex food and going on adventures with Jenna and their daughter Analie. He has four cats, fourteen chickens, every hobby he can convince his wife to allow him to spend money on, and a pathetically large number of unread books on his shelves.
Pastors
Jeff is the youngest of three boys. He grew up attending church, but came to a saving knowledge of Christ as a young adult. Jeff earned an M.S. in Direct Marketing at Northwestern and worked in marketing management for several years before following a call to vocational ministry. After finishing M.Div. studies at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, he served in pastoral positions at EFCA churches in the St. Louis area. Jeff also taught Homiletics at Covenant and served on the board of Thrive St. Louis, a life-affirming ministry. Jeff has been married to Amelia since 1991, and they are parents to four awesome and funny kids. Jeff enjoys music, tennis, reading, coffee, and being outdoors. His desire is to help more people know the transforming love of Christ, and equip them to use their gifts to impact the world with God’s grace.
Nathan has banked his fair share of miles. He was born in Tennessee, raised in Ohio, attended college in Pennsylvania, met his wife in South Dakota, and earned an MDiv at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (in Illinois) while living in Wisconsin. He and his beautiful wife, Claire, are grateful parents to two sweet daughters, Hazel and Adalie, and son, John Mark. Nathan loves opportunities to work with students, feeding his goofy and fun nature, but also being able to see them grow in their faith and ultimately become fully-formed and functioning members of the Body of Christ. When not working, he’s doing fun home projects or playing and watching sports.
A farm boy from Kansas, Tom is the middle of five children and has been a believer since age eleven. He and Linda were married in 1972 and have four adult children and thirteen grandchildren. Tom has been a local church pastor since 1976, serving in Nebraska and Kansas prior to coming to Faith in 2004. He stepped down as Lead Pastor in 2017, now serving halftime in addition to homeschooling their eldest grandson through high school. He has served on numerous boards and committees with the Evangelical Free Church of America, currently on the Spiritual Heritage Committee. His passions are family, church family, preaching, writing and championing global missions. He enjoys travel, reading, being with people, watching sports and riding his 1974 Schwinn Continental bicycle.

Joel loves investing in and developing leaders. It’s something he has had the privilege to do wherever he has worked, as a 7th-grade teacher, missionary with CRU, discipleship pastor, and most recently, a corporate leadership coach and consultant. Ultimately, his passion is to help leaders identify their unique calling in God’s kingdom and develop the faith, skill, and character to fulfill their calling. Joel comes from a seven-generation farm family east of Indianapolis, is a Butler University graduate, and is pursuing his Master’s at the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. He also cherishes his lovely wife Shelbe and his two children, Graham and Joy. Together, they love hiking, camping, learning, and talking about life. Joel is excited to serve on the Faith Church staff and to trust the Lord to multiply disciple-making leaders at Faith.
Kendra Carter started attending Faith Church in the 2ndgrade when her parents, Doug & Robyn Thornton first moved to Indianapolis. She met and married her husband Nick at Faith Church, and the two of them led our “20-Somethings” ministry until they left to plant Village Life Church. At Village Life, Kendra developed and led the children’s ministry. Over the last 15 years, she has held teaching and program development roles for students from preschool through high school in various Christian educational settings. In every setting, her goal is to direct children to the glory of God, call them to repentance, and teach them to worship Him.
Jane comes to the Faith office team with a BA in Christian Education, a Masters Degree in Human Resources, and experience in a Christian school, a Christian bookstore, and home daycare. Jane and her husband, Brian, came to Faith in 2021 after a long stint in Arkansas where Brian taught at John Brown University. They have one son, one daughter, one grandson, and several grand-pets. Jane and Brian are avid Green Bay Packers fans, and one of Jane’s greatest joys is regular “reunions” with her seven sisters.
Anna is the Administrator for Faith International English Classes (FIEC). She is passionate about empowering others through learning. Her favorite part of FIEC is getting to see students get excited about doing things for themselves that they had previously relied on others to do for them. She has been at Faith Church since 1993. Anna and her husband Brian have twin daughters, Audrey and Natalie (’03).
Hannah was born in Honduras but grew up in Brown County, Indiana. She spent much of her free time from middle school on up volunteering with the youth at Center Grove Church in Greenwood, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion Indiana with a degree in Social Work. While in her junior year, she felt God call her into ministry. She feels blessed and humbled to be in this position and is excited about the calling to serve and love the youth of our community.
Brittany supports staff IT needs and manages sound, light and technology ministries. Brittany graduated from Huntington University with a B.A. in Broadcast Communications and in her spare time enjoys crafts, being part of a community group, and staying up to date on the latest technology.
Claire is our director of communications and design. Though she has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire (no relation), she has always had a passion for graphic design. Claire likes to sit outside by the fire, make delicious food, eat stale candy, and hang out with Nathan and her three kiddos.
Amy graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.A. in Spanish. She is married to Andy and they have four children.
Pat comes to us with a wealth of experience in carpentry and building/property maintenance. He has lived in the Indy area his whole life, and attended Pike HS and IUPUI. He now runs his own business, and resides right in the Nora neighborhood.
Pat greatly enjoys spending time with his close-knit family and his dog. He takes much joy and satisfaction in helping others, keeping busy at all times, and being in the center of the action. He admits to being compulsively organized – as in: “You should see my sock drawer!”
Karl grew up in a fairly traditional Baptist church on the east side of Indianapolis, leading worship from a young age before getting a degree in Worship Ministry from Liberty University. After his degree, he married his wife, Abby, and had their daughter Maddie. Prior to joining the Faith Ministry Team, Karl completed a two-year internship at Trader’s Point Christian Church where he served as a music director, producer, composer, and much more.
Julie coordinates the traditional worship gathering and directs the adult choir at Faith. She has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati and many years of experience in music education, directing choirs, and teaching piano. She is married to Nate and they have three daughters, Kara (’02), Natalie (’05) and Rachel (’05).
Audri and her family have attended Faith Church since 2008. She is married to Matt, and they have 4 kids — Max, Rowan, Cooper, and Reagan. Audri is passionate about serving the church, especially families and young kids. She is excited about partnering with Kendra Carter in a supportive role for FaithKids. When she’s not working, Audri is busy being a stay-at-home mom to her kids, making weekly Target pick-up orders (a true blessing), and building friendships with everyone she meets.
