Poland Serve and Learn Trip 2025 – Sunday

Posted: June 15, 2025

Today was a slower paced day. We all met for a leisurely breakfast at 9am … with so much to choose from that most of us skipped lunch we were so full. Jerry started is off with a devotion from Habakkuk. Once that was done a few of us walked to a nearby mall for the last supplies we needed. We arrived at 11am, the store opened at 10am according to the sign but the mall was closed and dark. While that abortive mission was being undertaken, another group was putting together our bags for the KTS group.
Just before lunch we met again for a bus ride to Majdanek, a former German concentration camp on the outskirts of Lublin, which is also the first memorial to the Holocaust as it was opened in the fall of 1944. We had a 2 1/2 hr. tour which was very informative but also very heavy and disquieting. To see first hand what horrors people can do to others made in God’s image is profoundly disturbing. This evening we met Ruslan for a wonderful dinner out.
Prayer requests: The KTS teams has left Kiev. Pray for safety as they travel and short stops at checkpoints and border patrol. Also, the Haddads have confirmed that their flight has been cancelled and they won’t be joining us. Pray for safety for the Haddads and for ABTS and also that we can find a way to make zoom work for Elie as translation with zoom can be challenging. Pray for many last minute details that will be attended to tomorrow and that our team holds our plans loosely and trusts in the Lord  if we need to change plans. May God be glorified through all that happens in the coming days.
Pictures are: Majdanek, the memorial at the entrance of Majdanek a memorial made with shoes from those killed at the camp, and the team with Ruslan and Natalya.
