Hello Faith Church Family,
We have had a very exhausting and exciting day but are doing well.
This morning we had our second Poverty 101 class with Tim Streett, and then we met with a local Police Officer, and a local Paramedic. Tim taught us about the 10 assets that impoverished people don’t have provided for them. The Paramedic and the Police Officer do not do the traditional duties of people in their workforce, and they partner with Shepard to help out the community in many different ways.
We then went to lunch with the kids, and helped them focus on learning in the classrooms. We went to Worship, where the kids get to sing, dance, and watch our skit about Moses parting the Red Sea. The day was more exhausting than usual because the kids had a ton of extra energy because we couldn’t go outside as the bad weather prevented us. On a positive note, this did allow us to have more spiritual conversations and get to know the kids better. After the kids left we had a delicious Mexican meal from a local restaurant and went back to the church to play games during the storm.
Our prayer requests for tomorrow:
- Energy for us and the interns,
- To have deep spiritual conversations with the kids,
- We can be good role models for the kids,
- To show God’s love,
- As the girls are swimming tomorrow, that they will be protected from anything harmful,
- That the guys at Shepard are able to deal with the boys alone without the girls’ help.
