Shepherd Serve and Learn Trip 2025 – Monday

Posted: July 1, 2025

Hi friends, Day 1 is over! This morning, we had our first Poverty 101 session. We learned about the differences and experiences that could shape world-views between those in poverty and middle class. It was eye-opening for us and with this perspective we were ready to jump into our first day with the kids!

We were assigned to different grade levels and throughout the day stuck with that class as we helped the intern and teachers. Throughout the day we helped them through lessons, outdoor fun, and chapel. We transformed into expert tapers, spellers, and dancers! It was a blast meeting the kids but it’s safe to say we are TIRED!

Most importantly, we saw how God used us as we were able to have spiritual conversations with kids as well as each other. We’re excited to see how God continues using us in this coming week as we grow in our faith and build meaningful relationships with the kids.

Continue praying for strength, patience, and energy as we go into the coming week. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers!
