Today was another full day for us. I had asked for prayers about the heat because today was supposed to be pretty warm. Thankfully, thanks to some well-placed fans, the school wasn’t unbearable. Tomorrow will be another warm day, so you can pray the same prayer! Thank you! 🙂
Today we talked about the 10 women waiting for the bridegroom and how 5 had the extra oil; they were prepared as they waited for the groom. We discussed how we don’t know when Jesus will return, but we want to be prepared. (One group was upset at the idea that He might come before lunch, though!) Jess shared her testimony in the morning, and then Hope shared in the afternoon. Both were open and honest about what it means to live for Christ. We pray that sharing our faith stories during these times will help students see more clearly what it means to live a Christian life.
In the evening, the team had great fun exploring parts of the old city and then going to McDonald’s for supper. We had fun trying new sandwiches, a pistachio McFlurry, and macarons with decaf cappuccinos. The verdict was that the sandwiches were delicious, the wings were amazing, and the McFlurry was not that great. The drinks and macarons were wonderful!)
Tomorrow is our last day. We have three young women in college who attended this camp as younger children and have come back to help with translation. Emily is not sure where any of the three girls are spiritually. We have been so focused on the students, but can you pray with us that God uses the act of sharing these words to work on the hearts of the three girls? (I’m not sure if I can share names, so I’m leaving them out at this point.) We are here to help minister to them as much as the campers, and we want to make sure we can honor these young people who gave up a week of their summer to work HARD for nothing! Pray for endurance, one more day! Once again, it’s later than I would like as I wrap this up. Once again, my alarm is set for 6am! Pray that we can be intentional with the staff and campers, even as we begin to focus on packing up all the things we brought just six days ago. (We brought everything we used to the school, and we need to take it all out.)
Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement this week!
