Poland Serve and Learn Trip 2025 – Tuesday

Posted: June 18, 2025

We can’t seem to say enough about the culinary delights that the hotel provides. Each breakfast is a true smorgasbord of wonder to savor. After breakfast, we had a time of worship as a group, and learned more about Elie and Mareille Haddad via Zoom. Jeff also shared with us.

Free choice options in the mid-morning included meeting with Jenni to discuss Psalm 106, a workshop with Mareille as she explained Heart for Lebanon, an NGO that was begun in Beirut to first aid refugees from Syria, and Rebecca leading a workshop creating Kintsugi in which participants broke a  ceramic tile, then put it back together, and make it more beautiful in the process. Using a hammer to break your neighbor’s tile and hand it back to them was a very real reminder of how our Ukrainian brothers and sisters have seen so much broken by their own neighbor. One participant left a hole in the center of her heart-shaped tile and later glued a piece of ceramic over it with “Jesus” written on it. Beautiful and moving.

The first of three strategic planning meetings began today, once again utilizing Zoom to connect Elie and KTS staff.

After lunch, many walked to downtown Lublin to see the sights with additional commentary by Nataliya, the Director of Christian Education that has done so much work in planning this retreat. After a brief rest following our walk, we headed to dinner then a wonderful night of testimonies by Pastor Jeff and Ruslan Khmyz, the President of KTS, along with praise songs. It’s been a wonderful day!
