Neil: For our service project this morning, I went to one of Shepherd’s intern houses to trim the bushes off the entrance and pick up trash at the house. During aftercare, I played soccer and managed to trip every single kid on accident on the opposing team. After dinner, we had a cooking competition with 4 different teams. There were 8 categories, and each team won in at least one of them. After the cooking competition, I had the bright idea to eat half a raw onion, drink a cup of lemon juice, and eat a clove of raw garlic. I felt like I was going to die.
Selah: After breakfast, we had two different service projects. The girls and some of the guys painted a deck on Shepherd’s campus. The deck also had to get scraped before it could be painted, so Marc and Matthew scraped the paint while everyone else painted. Today the girls had swim day, so after lunch, we got on buses and drove to a public pool. We all had lots of fun swimming with the kids and going down the water slide. Everyone really enjoyed swim day. After we got back, we helped with aftercare. In aftercare, lots of kids wanted to make beaded key chains in the craft section, and Linnea and I helped one kid make about four different key chains. After that, we had dinner and our devo, which was about how to love everyone, even people you hate. We all agree that it was a much-needed lesson.
