Hey guys!
Today was our second full day at Shepherd community center. David, one of our speakers, started off our day with an egg and chorizo breakfast burrito bar that was BUSS. Then, we did our first service project helping out with some cleaning that needed to be done at the community center. Rafaela and I were a part of a group that deep cleaned the walk-in fridges, including the racks that were low-key covered in mold (but we did it!!!). After that, we hung out for a little bit and chilled until the chaos began. We joined our classrooms for lunch, then the boys left for pool day, which actually didn’t happen because the pool was “unsafe to swim in” (Editor’s note: the chemicals in the pool weren’t appropriately balanced). The guys ended up hanging out outside, then came back in for snack time and dismissal.
Rafaela: During Summer+ I hung out with some kids in the gym with Matthew, Plaw, Daniel, and Neil. There was one other girl in the gym, and we stuck together (I was in her class the first year I came to Shepherd which was two years ago). She made me play all the games with her and braid her hair. We bonded better than ever. It’s truly remarkable how much she has grown in her relationship with Christ.
Sadie: I made new friends today! During Summer+ I was outside with Josh K, Marc, Elliot, Timmy, Ami, Josh H, and Eddie. There was this six-year-old that was really mean to me yesterday but decided we were homies today, so we played tag for like 20 minutes or so (until I was so out of breath I had to suggest hide and seek). Finally, Ami and I went to play PIG basketball with the guys while the kids chose to entertain themselves, but I was promptly mobbed by multiple first graders soon after and we played “house”. After all the kids went home, there were some leftover boxes of snacks that were generously donated to us, and because we’re so calculated we rationed them and saved some for later (we ate all of them). No devotional tonight, but we will be doing it tomorrow morning.
Thank you so so much to Mrs. Buben, Mrs. Hackman, the Vickerys for making/bringing us dinner tonight, and a huge Happy Birthday to Mrs. Vickery!!
Stay Skibidi,
Rafaela and Sadie 😊
