Each year, Faith International English Classes (FIEC) serve about 150 adults from more than 25 countries speaking at least 20 languages and dialects. We strive to provide quality English teaching that is relevant to our students’ needs and personal, caring relationships that help them flourish. You’ll gain a new perspective and change your view of the world by making new friends from a variety of backgrounds, and sharing stories, customs, food, and family life.
Volunteer to teach English
We’re always looking for more adults willing to volunteer in the FIEC program in a variety of capacities. There are five levels of classes, with each class set up with a teacher who is a certified in English as a New Language (ENL) or who has several years of training and experience in FIEC. Students sit around tables and interact with a conversation facilitator who helps students practice talking about class topics.
Training is provided for all volunteer teachers, and support is offered throughout the year. If you’re new to the program, you’ll receive several weeks of training to prepare.
Volunteer with FIEC Kids
Have a heart for working with kiddos? All FIEC students are invited to bring their children (ages 6 weeks-13 years) to FIEC Kids. Children are grouped in classrooms by age. Teacher and helper volunteer positions are available across all age ranges. Curriculum, crafts, and snacks are supplied each week.
- Preschool: Children learn English using games, songs, stories, and crafts.
- Elementary: Fun lessons include reading, science experiments, and crafts.
- Upper Elementary-Middle School: Teachers provide homework help, play educational games, and work on literacy.
Short-Term Volunteer Roles
We’ll take all the help we can get! There are many short-term volunteer roles available, like being a substitute teacher or facilitator, setting up classrooms, set up and tear down for special events, and more.
